Elmar Brok comments on the state of the Brexit negotiations after the negotiation’s sixth round
Elmar Brok, the Brexit coordinator of the European People’s Party and the Brexit Sherpa in the European Parliament, comments on today’s press conference after the sixth round of the Brexit negotiations:
There are only two weeks left for the British government to make the necessary concessions on the issues of the withdrawal agreement in order for the European Council to be able to begin the negotiations on the future partnership in December. The time is running out. The positive momentum brought to the negotiations by Theresa May’s speech in Florence must urgently be translated into concrete concessions by the British government. This applies in particular to the main issues of the withdrawal agreement, namely the financial obligations, citizen’s rights and the Northern Irish border issue.
