Elmar Brok meets Mr Robin Walker MP, the UK’s Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Exiting the European Union.

One day after passing the resolution on the state of play of the negotiations with the United Kingdom, Elmar Brok, Brexit coordinator in the EPP group and Brexit Sherpa for the European Parliament, met with Mr Robin Walker MP, the UK’s Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Exiting the European Union.

The meeting focused on the fifth round of negotiations, set to begin on Monday October 9th. Elmar Brok made clear in the meeting, that the EU expects a strong progress in regard to the three main issues of the withdrawal agreement, namely citizen’s rights, the financial settlement and the northern Irish border issue. „Talks regarding the future partnership between the EU and the UK will not be able take place, if these questions are not resolved“, said Elmar Brok.
